What have you already done? Have you copy/monitored the rooms from the architectural model or have you specified the rooms. Make sure rooms are inclosed spaces. Add the properties and function to the rooms, best to be done in the room schedule. Running the Load calc then should work. Make also sure that you are on latest built of the revit software. If you are using an earlier version, the load calcs do not work whatever you are doing with the rooms. Latest builts can be downloaded from the autodesk revit website, see support & services.

If you want to use load calculation, you must define space in your MEP model.

1. First Link with Architect Model,

2. You must check link model property (under project borwser - revit links), Room bounding must check mark.

3. Then you apply Space.

4. Optional, you can make zone for those spaces.

I also very new in Revit.  Now I start using Revit MEP 2009.  Do you have any sample MEP project for reference?
