Revit is a fun program, but ive run into some problems that are more frustrating than I could ever imagine can anyone give me some hints?
  • If a project is started by someone other than Mech in office, Is there a way to transfer duct fittings & pipe fittings from the mech default template into the new project? (other than loading them all individually)
  • Transferring legends - can you do it?
  • symbols in a mechanical family.... can they rotate with the family to stay readable? can they offset from thier origin depending on drawing scale factor?

I agree it is a fun program have you started using it for analysis? thats when the real fun beings to make a quick change and see the s*** flow down hill. so on to your questions . . .

you can transfer your mechanical settings by using what is called transfer project standards in the file menu. the help file walks through this . . . there are also other misc posts about it. one thing to remember is that your active window has to be the one that you are copying too, and you must also have the other project you are transfering from open.

I am not sure about transfering legends, i used them on a couple of projects and got sick of copying and pasting them between project (i know some will gasp at what is about to be said) so i started using drafting view which i can save out simply insert into each new project as needed.

to keep symbols readable in families, it really depends on how you are creating them . . . face based, hosted, non-hosted. anyway this is something to play around with when you are in the family editor go to settings and go down to select family categories and parameters and look at your options or if you are using a nested annotation it will be there that you control the visibility, there should be a parameter for keep text readable, take a look at a receptacle family with that annotation same idea. . .
