We are a medium size structural engineering firm about to start our first project in RST 2009 along with an architect starting their first project in revit.

I would appreciate some help for the following questions;

Do we need to set up a central file since we are working in seperate offices? I am guessing not.

From what I have read the simplest way to share a file if to big to email is through an ftp site. Correct?

This project is an existing multi-story brick warehouse being transformed into lofts/retail. Would it be possible to take the architects model(walls, floors, etc,) and add structural elements (beams, framing columns, landing slabs, etc), or do I also have to create the same walls and floors in my model? (as i type this, I am thinking what a dumb question), I don't want to complicate the process, or do more work than I have to.

Thanks

joe

If multiple people are working on the project in the same office, that office will need a central file.  This will be true in each office.

Each office will have their own file but will link a copy of the other's model and copy/monitor appropriate items from the other's file.  This transfer can be email but FTP does work best.

Spend some time learning the copy monitor process.  Not everything needs to be copy/monitored since you can see evrything in the link.
