Hello, I am currently using Revit MEP 2009 to draw ductwork as specified by the CADD drawings for a building. Basically, I am drawing every duct separately as opposed to using the layout path feature. I am having troubles with connections between regular ducts and diffusers: theres not enough space to create duct fittings. If I lower the diffusor to a lower offset then it connects. However I need the diffusors to be at the specified ceiling height. Is there a way to get around this? Also, what does the following error message mean: "this segment is being drawn from the wrong side to connect to the location you indicated". Thanks, Denis

There is no workaround really for this. you can try using flex duc tto connect the branches to the diffusers, but you're probably goign to still hit the not enough space issue. This is actually a good "contractor's warning" since it indicates that there may not actually be enough space in the ceiling plenum to fit the duct work and still be able to get a proper connection to the diffuser. One trick you can try is switching to the 1d radius elbow families (smaller radius) if you're using a radius bent elbow system. The wrong direction error means that you're trying to put the duct on the wrong side of a family. Either the family was not made correctly or your duct is not on the right side of the connection for that family. You'll notice if you open a family to edit, that the conection has an arrow pointing out of the connection point. This is NOT airflow travel, but direction the duct/pipe should travel away from the connection. HTH

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! |
