revit 2009

windows xp

I have a built up wood column in my current project.  In the floor plans I have a plan detail called out.  On the sheet with the plan detail viewport, I also have a section of the column.  On the section I would like to put some sort of callout refering to the plan detail.  This would be sort of like drawing a horizontal section cut.  My first thought is to place a section tag and use the refer to other view option to mark it for the plan detail.  The problem is revit will not let me refer to a plan detail in a section view.

So what is the work around?  At the moment we have a text note calling the column and referring to the plan detail.  I hate doing this because it defeats the purpose of having tags that automatically update.  So now I am stuck with at least one text with leader that I have to monitor incase I move the detail it is referring to.

I've had the same problem. The reference plane seems to be linked to the location of the line, did you ever have any luck solving this?

What I have done in the past when I do this is in the section add a "Section" but have it as a "Detail" vs. "Building Section" or "Wall Section" and I have the section refer to my plan callout.

Just use a callout, detail that refers to what you want.  Very...very....very small bubble - see attached.

I'm not sure if I'm following you. Here's a picture of what I'm referring to.

You can create a section from within the section.  I tend to avoid using detail sections in most cases because they have some strange built in visibility limitations.  You must run it vertical first, then rotate it 90°.

As I said, use a callout detail.  This is a section with a callout detail.  The blob at the end of this callout is really the callout bubble.

Can't say that I really like that workaround, when its possible to do it correctly.  But hey, if it works...

Is this still the only way to make a callout that stands alone? I want to add detail callouts in a sudo door schedule or in text

With Revit 2013 onwards you could use a view reference tag to do this with the reference other view option.  It can look like whatever you'd like.  I did blog post on it previously:

So I'am still wondering if a door schedule can have a view referance call out. I assume not, . . . does 2014 address this?

How are we linking a sheeted detail view of a door jamb to the door schedule?
