I am running Revit Architecture 2009 and I put some chair components in my project but I need to move them vertically a couple of feet so they sit on a stage. When I'm in elevation it will only let me move the component left to right. Thanks for the help.

Here is a favorite Revit trick of mine. Use the Copy button. Select the chairs. Then click the Copy button. Before you click on the screen, uncheck Copy in the Options Bar. Also, make sure that Constrain is not checked in the Options Bar. Then select on screen as though you were just moving the objects. This will creat a new instance in the new location, and remove the original instance from the original location. It seems exactly the same as moving, but it tricks Revit into forgeting the constraint. Try it and tell me what you think.

Furniture items are bound to the floor the are placed on but with some furniture, there is an elevation parameter that will allow you to move them up. If you don't have that with your families, you may have to add a level to host your families. That level can be hidden in all views.
