Why is it that Revit 2009 behaves different from 2008 when it comes to joining walls with structural columns. The columns get cut when it should be the walls as is with 2008. Is there a workaround ???

I noticed that Revit 2009 has major problem with structural columns when joined with walls. In Revit 2008 it all worked fine - for example when I had wall and than inserted structural columns in that wall - columns, as the most important structural element, were always visible and the column's hatch pattern was masking wall's hatch pattern. In Revit 2009 structural columns behave quite different - when I insert structural column in wall which is marked as "bearing", the column is being cut by the wall, and only the part that is outside the wall is visible. When inserting structural columns in walls marked as "non-bearing" the whole column is visible, even when I mark the wall as "non-bearing" nothing is changed. When I unjoin them the hatch of column and the hatch of wall are both visible in the same place and when joining them the column is again being cut by the wall. I think Autodesk will have to fix this bug as it makes it very uncomfortable to work with model. M.Soral

Has anyone figured out how (using Revit Architecture 2009) to make a column cut a wall. I have inserted columns from the structural components and my wall is non-load bearing (which should not matter, a concrete column will never be "cut" by a wall). Very frustrating...

Read the treads below and make sure you are using STRUCTURAL COLUMNS not architectural columns

YEA, SAW THOSE BUT I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. TAKE A LOOK AT MY PDF (YOU MAY HAVE TO ZOOM IN) IF YOU GET A CHANCE. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE (THAT I KNOW OF) BETWEEN THE TWO WALLS SHOWN IS THAT ONE COLUMN IS ASSOCIATED WITH COLUMN LINES AND THE OTHER IS NOT. THE COLUMNS CUT THE WALLS JUST FINE, BUT WHEN I ASSOCIATE THEM WITH COLUMN LINES IT STOPS CUTTING THE WALL? THANKS
