Hi everyone! This is my first time in this forum. I'm trying to use Revit 2009 for the first time, trying to build a simple house; all seems quite intuitive and simple to understand, I just like to have an advice or some guide points on how to create this kind of door\window: http://www.ossosso.com/public/scambio/forum/shoot.JPG Into the Revit2009 families library I haven't found nothing similar to that to edit. Thank you very much for any help, and sorry for my yet low knowledge like Revit User. ByeZ!

It would be easier for you to create a generic wall based family. Then go to settings->family and categories and change your family category to window. Now open up the placement side of your window (elevation view called placement side) and use your opening tool to draw the shape of your opening, click finish. You now have your opening in the wall (hopefully as you wanted it). Now add an extrusion (pick center/front back when it asks you for a reference plane) and draw in the glass (you will need to go to extrusion properties or click on the options bar to tell it the "depth" of you pane of glass. You can create the bricks above the window using extrusions with the wall edge as their workplane. The same can be done for the sill, either make it in 2 extrusions from floor plan view, or as an extrusion with a void cutting off some of the extrusion... Now what I have explained above should hopefully get you the window you were looking for, or at least a start... but this is NOT PARAMETRIC! I'll leave you with this, ask more questions once you get there...

Thank you very much for your help. Following your instructions I've builde something similar what I need; in the meantime I found out that on this webiste http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=9262641 I can download a lot of families, once I'll finish to download all of them I'll look for a model better then mine. Just a question: the .cab files that I'm downloading need a particular installation process or it's sufficient to extract them in the correct folder with the other families? Thank you very much. P.s. Where's the Extrude Tool?
