In the past, we were able to duplicate materials during the rendering stages of our design with the acurender engine. We are having trouble duplicating materials in 2009 with the new mental ray engine. Is it possible to duplicate materials in 2009? If so, how can this be done?

Can you explain the problem a bit more? you can still go into the Material dialog and the button at bottom left allows you to duplicate a material in the same manner as 2008 - but do you mean when you try to create your own render material and use that in the material definition as this part has changed, with the introduction of the Pro Materials

Yes,  We have created our own material and are trying to duplicate it.  Is this possible in '09?  If so how do we do it?

 Thank you,

In Materials Dialog box first Duplicate a material (bottom left button)

Next on the Render Appearance tab click the Replace button to select at material image from the library.

Now in the look down for the area than specifies the Image File and click browse to select your own BMP or JPEG etc.

Adjust the various settings to desired result e.g. Finish, bump map etc then back up the top part of the dialog box click the Update Preview button. Voila new material.
