Hi: In my company we usually design a kind of very massive architecture, with thick walls and thick openings on them.My question is what is the best approach for this kind of modelling in revit. Should I create double 150mm walls, as in the example, and then a concrete beam, and then the 2 walls segments over the beam, then changing the material with the paint tool? or should I create a new type of wall with a air layer in the core?.  And the last question is, how can I place a door in this already created thick opening?. Is there any parameter to prevent the door from using the full thickness of the wall to create the frame, I mean to set a fixed depth for the framing. (I don't want the frame covering the full thickness of the opening).

check my attachments

thanks in advance.

You'll probably find it easier to do as a single wall with the appropriate wrapping properties at openings.

as for the door, yes its possible to create a door with a frame that is not associated the wall thickness.  Just don't constrain it to the wall faces and give the frame a depth and offset parameter so you can position it appropriately in the wall.

Thanks a lot Chris, about the door, you mean, when making a new door family? or in the door instance creation parameters?
