Hello there, I am using revit arch. 2008.  What I have done is imported coordinated mep cad files into my architectural model in revit.   When I go to cut a section or an elevation, I see the whole mep cad files, and not just the view depth of the sections or elevations.  What I am trying to do is to take an elevation of a wall and be able to dimension the wall with the mep's.  ??  Is there a way that I can do this so that I can actually cut those cad files where the view depth of the elevations or sections actually work?  I kind of just want the elevation of the walls with the protrusions??  Thanks

JB

Sorry, I don't think you will be able to do what you want.  Assuming they are 3D, AutoCAD imports are not cutable.

CAD objects can indeed be cutable.

What I do is to import the *.dwg into an empty Revit project into an empty, in-place family component. Revit really sux at this btw and even small files can lock up your session. The largest file that I have used about 16 megs. Start a brand new Revit session if you have problems. The final step is to then import your component/project file into your working project file.

There might be a difference if the 3d model is made of up from solids or a polymeshes. I have gotten this to work with ACIS solids.
