We've recently downloaded the worksharing monitor for Revit 2008.

Now some people in the office have been complaining that it uses up too much memory. As soon as you start the monitor, a message pops up saying the virtual memory is at 0MB. I have my doubts that the monitor uses a lot of memory though. I'm guessing the memory is at 0MB no matter what due to the size of our Revit file.

Anyone have any facts? I think it'd be useful tool and like to keep using it.

 Thanks.

From what our office has observed, it isn't the workshare monitor.  To prove this, create a small workshared project, and you will see that you are ok.  Then open your project, and it will scream at you.  I'd also place a guess that you perhaps have 2GB with the 3GB switch active?  I have not noticed any change in performance since we started using the workshare monitor, except we are now aware of just how much of a piggy Revit is.  Make it so that the warnings go away after a few seconds, and disable a lot of the stupid warnings (like system memory low, etc.)  The real point of this app is workshare, so keep editing requests on, maybe a few other pertinent things that you'd like to know, and then they won't even know they have the monitor running, until they get an editing request...

Now that you mention requests, I have requested a save to central, but there is no message being received by the other party? How do I verify request capability is working in Revit, and not being blocked by our network or something?

if you and the other party(ies) have an editing request and they also have the worksharing monitor open, then they will get a little bubble to announce that someone has placed a request.  But when you save to central, their monitors should show that you are saving to central.  This application only informs you, it doesn't let you answer the request from within.  you have to  answer the request within Revit itself.
