Offen I am adding walls next to walls that were drawn previously. I would like to match the properties of the existing wall or other family. Scrolling throught he browser can be time consuming.

Just use the Create Similar Button. It is located in the toolbars at the top of the screen. This will inherit the family and type of any object selected and put you into the right command to place another instance of an object.
