while making my window family i have came across a problem. what happens is my window glass comes in correctly in my family both upper glas and lower glass. but when i install it into a project the lower glass shows up but it is not in the correct spot. the lines where the glass cuts into the frame are showung up but the glass itself is neither in front of or behind the frame yet it shows up as if it were there but not in the spot where the extusion cuts into the frame. has anyone encountered this or know what is going on. i can e-mail the file if anyone wants to look at it.

Pete, I got your email and inserted the window in a project. Everything looks fine to me...so I still don't understand the problem :-) It must be something with your project file.

i tried inserting it into the default residential file and the same thing happens. once the window is inserted it looks fine. but as you zoom in on the lower frame of the window the glass is not really there in the location it is appears to be. i'll make another window and see if it is just something i may have over looked i the creation process.

I think I see what you're talking about. In shaded view with edges, the lower plane looks like it's on the outside of the window, no matter what side you look at the window from... It might be just the way Revit is reading the shaded view. I tried raytracing it and everything looks right.

well i made it again and the lower left pane is ok but the lower right is still doing it. i 'm a little confused since i made a single hung and that is what i used to make the double by drawing one beside it in the rfa. the single hung is just fine. i have just finished a single hung triple and i have my fingers crossed it works. i know that the middle pane of the triple should be like the double since it is now the center pane of the triple. but every thing looks great on all the families except for the 3d shaded view. they are good in floorplan and section just not 3d shaded. if you think they are ok i'm good with it and will download them. also i emailed a copy to my autodesk contact here in columbus, to see if he could pass it on to whoever may know something overthere. well thanks for help i'll post whatever the revit people tell me about.

Let me get this right. You made a family and it looks fine. Once you insert it into you project things seem to move all over the place. Is that correct?

yes the glass pane of the window shows up where it cuts the frame extrusion, but the color of the glass is not there. it is there just not where the extrusion is. so when you look at it from the exterior it looks like it is in the interior but when you look at it from the interior it looks like it is on the exterior. aal this yet the extrusion lines are in the correct spot.

Well sounds like constraints. Kind of need to see it.

I JUST RECIEVED A RESPONSE FROM MY REVIT REP HERE IN COLUMBUS AND HE SAYS THAT MY WINDOW IS TO DETAILED AND REVIT IS HAVING TROUBLE READING IT WHEN IT SHADES. SO HE SUGGESTED TO MAKE IT SIMPLER. LIKE SHOW 1 PANE OF GLASS RATHER THAN MY DOUBLE PANE THAT I HAVE SHOWN. SINCE IT LOOKS CORRECT IN PLAN AND ELEVATION AND SECTION I'M GOOD WITH HOW IT LOOKS SINCE THOSE ARE THE MAIN WAYS I'LL BE USING IT. I'LL EMAIL IT TO YOU TO SEE IF YOU THINK THE SAME.
