RStruc Newbie here. (using Rstruc 2009) I need to tag each of the piles in my project, each with a unique identifier (P# for example), so that I can then create a Pile Record (schedule) that will list: - Pile Number (Mark)
- Pile Cut-Off Elevation - Design
- Pile Cut-Off Elevation - As Driven
- Pile Tip Elevation - Design
- Pile Tip Elevation - As Driven
- Pile Length - Design
- Pile Length - As Driven
Where do I start? I can certainly dig and learn. Can you point me to a tutorial or just give me some sense of direction? I've searched the forums and really haven't found anything about Pile Records, Schedules, or Tags.

You want to use shared parameters. Here are some tutorials: http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2005/06/sharing-parameters-overview.html http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2005/06/making-shared-parameter-file.html http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2005/07/shared-parameters-part-3.html http://revitoped.blogspot.com/2005/10/shared-parameters-part-4.html

Perfect! I'm working my way thru those tutorials now. I'm going to work thru some family creation tutorials too. Another question though: is there an easy way to tag each pile with a unique number without having to edit the properties of each one? I have a feeling the answer is no, but since Revit is so geared toward doing things automatically rather than manually . . .

Nope. And I can't seem to get enough time to figure it out. For now, we've edited the properties of each pile and changed the "Mark" to the appropriate Pile Number (P75 for example).

OK . . . I've been bangin my head against the wall for hours now. I'm trying to create the shared parameters that I need, so that I can schedule Pile Cut-Off Elevation (top of the pile) Pile Tip Elevation (bottom of the pile) But I can't figure out how to create a "level" parameter. It just doesn't seem to be there. And when I'm trying to modify the family for the HP Pile, (or any family for that matter), there's no option to insert a level. I can insert a Reference Plane . . . but not a level. I'm waiting for the preverbial "ah ha" moment . . . but it has escaped me so far. The whole families and parameters and schedules thing just hasn't quiet clicked with me yet. Help please. Honestly, I'm surprised that I haven't been able to find more information about Piles and Pile schedules in the various Revit forums. Are we the only folks that do such a thing? What about Pile Battering? I haven't found one iota of info about that. I guess that's a whole separate issue.
