We have been having an issue with the work plane. when we first start a new drawing, we have the work plane showing to lay out a floor plan, and then turn it off, when we are done. we have run into a problem. another guy in the office has the privelage of taking over a project that someone else has started to lay out. He is trying to turn on the work plane, but it doesn't turn on. It turns on in certain views. for example, it will turn on in the second floor plan view, but not in the main floor plan view.

does any of this make sense? i hope someone can help us out.

 Thanks

Tim

A work plane is not a model element and can be set in any plan, elevation or section.  You only need a work plane if you are adding model lines.  In floor plan views, REVIT assumes the level is the work plane and will host model lines like room seperation lines on the level.  Almost everything else including 2d symbollic lines don't require work planes.  When you want to add a model line, you can set the work plane to any plane parallel with the view.

When you get to families, work planes become much more important.
