i did not understand neither from autodesk's documentation nor here, if it is possible for two people to take their local files home and then bring it back and save to central at the server.

we are only two people and cannot work all the time together.actually most of the time we can work only at home

well, it is complicated.we are only students but loosing our work is not a joke.but there are too many prevention matters put in revit. In our case for example, one of us wants to layout a furnishing plan in the weekend,

and me wants to set a layout for the structural system which i will consult with the engineer teacher next week.

we will afterwards meet and save our changes to see who has done what and thenafter adjust it together.

I mean ours is a simple case, we are not such an idiots and know what exactly we want to do in a limited time.so maybe

it will be good if autodesk consider this issue for the next revit edittions.

best regards: thanks for the link

There is an easy work-around for what you are doing.  The furnishings can be done in a seperate model.  You can do this through file linking - 2 way.  Create a file for furnishings and link in the main model.  Now that can be worked on and this file linked back into the main model.  You can also just take a copy of the model home, add the furnishings then when you get back, open the real project and the copied project then copy/clip the furnishings and paste them in the main model.

Hope this helps.

yes i was thinking about file linking.but after we stopped using ADT i was so glad to get rid of all these X references and so on...It is something good and important but i was pretty much bored and reluctant to try it.and now me and my colleague we are already out of school and we didnt prepare a linked file for him, so everyone has a copy of his desktop's local file at home.if the procedure with user name change works, as coreed proposed, it will be the most convenient way.we just work on our local files somewhere.and if really necessary do some linking.

thank you, best regards

"maybe this will help a littlehttp://www.augi.com/publications/hotnews.asp?page=1667"

This SHOULD be included in the help files and in the pdf manual.Instead of going deep down into explanations about

the worksets Cryinga feature i merely understand, very nice but not really a necessity sometimes) , it should simply explain

how to work remotely of the almighty central and continue updating 1 model with the collaborators
