Hello,

I'm having trouble with the portable license utility (for Revit Arch 2008 ). We have 4 licenses in our offices and 6 potential machines that use Revit. When I export a license from the first machine, all goes well and a transfer file is created on our network, where the secondary machine imports it. No problems so far. When the time comes to export the license back out from the secondary to the primary machine, again no problems (the transfer file is successfully generated). The trouble occurs when I then try and import that license back into the machine from where it originally came. I'm getting an error indicating that it is not a valid transfer file. I've verified that I'm exporting to the appropriate machine (correct computer name and identification code). I would have thought that this was an isolated incident, but the same scenario plays out on another pair of machines as well. The problem at this point is that the license is now stuck in limbo. I can't import into the destination machine because of the "invalid transfer file" errors, and I can't activate on the machine from where it was exported (because the transfer file is specific to the destination machine). How can I get my licenses back? HELP! THANKS!

You might want to get in contat with the factory about this. They might have to do a placeware session with you but there is a file that Autodesk can manipulate to controll the licenses. I can't tell you what / where this file is because I'm not supposed to know and could get into some trouble but again, check with them. You could try your reseller, but I doubt they would know.
