I am trying to create a furniture family using several different family components, each with its own Type Mark, so that I can tag individual components in my furniture plan. My problem is that once I bring the completed family into the main model, when I try to tag an individual component within the family, my tags are coming in blank. Please advise, Thanks

First make sure the nested components are set to "Shared" in the Family Categories and Parameters. Then make sure That the "Type Mark" Values are filled out for each component in the Host Family.

Do I have to check each component as 'shared' before I bring them all together into the same family?

Yes. The sharing allows each component to be tagged seperately from the host family.

Hello there, I am having similar issues here. First I have a table family that I embedded a chair family into. Then I set all 4 chairs and table Family Categories to “shared”. Then I loaded it into my project with two problems. One: I cannot tag the individual chairs in the family, nor the table. Two: I also need the chairs to show up on the schedule as individual items. So that way we know the total count is accurate when we take our furniture totals. I have attached a family that has two instances of the tables in them. The table show up on the schedule, but I cannot get the chairs to show, as well as not able to tag then individually. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Lorne

Ok Nevermind, I figured it out. I didn't overwrite the parameters when I changed the chairs to 'shared'. I did that and botht the tagging and scheduling updated. Thx
