I have a host family with nested/shared families inserted into the host family. I load the entire host family into the project. How can I isolate or hide/unhide the NESTED families within the project? I can only seem to hide the entire family and all its nested families. thanks

hI, you must Edit your Family and then you can erase all of you want, then save and "load to Project", when Revit ask if you "Overwrite..." click Yes, the "nested components" disapears...

thanks, but i dont want to erase, I want to be able to control the visibility of the nested families per the view. if a host a family which has 5 nested families in it, i would like to load the host family into the project, and then be able to hide or unhide those NESTED families for that particular view. If I use a visibility yes/no parameter, it will hide the nested family - which is kind of good...but it hides that particular nested family in the entire project - EVRY VIEW. thus that piece is not visibile in certian views where I DO want that piece to be visible.

I'm pretty sure you've got this figured out by now, but I will go ahead and give my 2 cents... So you've created 5 seperate families and loaded each of these families into a single famiy, right. Now you should have 5 generic models inside the "ultimate" family (you dont need to place any of these onto the canvas yet. Next will be to Add a <Family Type...> parameter (leave it as type, not instance) and select Genric Models from the Subcategory list. You will also need to create a Family Type for each of the families you've loaded into the "ultimate" family. Now when you select a family from the drop down menu, you will need to select the correct family for the <Family Type...> parameter created earlier... Now, place one of your models onto the canvas and give it the Label of your <Family Type...> parameter. DONE.
