Hi I'm a Revit newbie and I can't figure out how to angle a column to support a shelf. The columns are not structural but decorative walls - any ideas to make that work?

If they are really decorative walls then make them walls and edit the elevation profile on both side to make them "angle"

It sounds like you are making a column like object but using the Wall tool to create it. If so, you are in luck. You could use the Massing tools to create a Mass with one face in the Angle and Position that you would like for your 'Wall' to be. Then, use the Wall by Face tool, in the Massing Tab, to place the walls on the face at the desired angle. If however, you are using the Architectural Coulmn tool, then you might need to edit the family to get it to angle. Remember to 'Dissociate from Plane' before rotating the objects. Hope this helps at least a little. Keep me posted.
