I've imported (Linked) an autocad 3d model (representing timbers in a timber frame) dwg file into revit  and been able to place it correctly but it won't section properly. In section view I seem to be only able to control the veiw range beyond the section line not in front of it.  I shouldn't be able to see anything in front of the section line anyways. Any help.  I'm only drawing the timbers in autocad becsuse I'm used to it.  Is there comparable 3d solids in Revit?  I'm fairly new to revit but I've been able to muddle through everything but this.  I'm impressed with the program otherwise

You cant cut most imported solids. I dont know if its by design, a fluke or what. You should be able to replicate the same beams with Revit's structural members. They are under the "Sturcutral" tab; you might have to right click on the side bar and turn it on. It might take a while to figure out how to warp/ angle them, but then everything is native Revit and BIM. AutoCAD imports arent BIM (at least I dont know how to schedule, etc them).

Thanks for your response.  I feared an incompatibility.  But that still doesn't explain why I can change the view range and it will affect the display  but only in one direction.  If it can cut off the model on one end of the drawing it should be able to do it on the other
