Hi, My latest conundrum is this: I have several countertops in my project. They show up perfectly in plan views, but for some reason they are invisible in elevations, sections and 3d views. I can even select the countertops in these views I just can't see them. I've checked the family visibility settings, the graphic overrides, the levels the countertops are on, the worksets, import categories, everything i can think of. I even tried using the line tool to make the countertops show up to no avail. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. I'm totally stupmed. I'm using Revit Architecture 2008. Thanks in advance. AB

Are these 3d countertop families? If so, is the 3d element set to be visible in elevations & sections in the family? If these are 2d countertops, do you have 2d symbollic lines in the family elevation? How were these created?

Hi, Thanks for responding. I'm using the 3D "Island Countertop" that comes with the metric library. I've checked the family and the various lines for their visibility in different views and everything is supposed to show up in elevations, and plans and cuts. I'm starting to think something just happened with the family and it doesn't work anymore. Today I'm making a new countertop family and I will try replacing the old countertops to see if that works. I feel like I've wasted enough time trying to figure out this thing. I also just noticed a few of the sinks in the project are starting to do the same thing, where they are visible in plan views but not elevations or sections. Has anyone ever had families that just ended getting messed up or broken or something? Maybe somebody else in the office is messing around with them.

This may be a stupid suggestion, but I do a lot of 3-D renderings and I have to make sure when I put the camera in that I drag the target to encompass everything I want to show (including the trees I have way behind the building). When I forget to do that, sometimes it'll be like you said, you can click where the tree is supposed to be and it's there, but won't render. Of course, if your cabinets are showing and just not your countertops, this wouldn't be your problem ...... and I've just wasted space here : )
