Can anyone tell me how to turn off the cut pattern material for topography when cutting sections through it? The reason I ask is that I often need to create a duplicate topography a certain distance above the actual/surveyed topography contours (so I can make sure my building doesnt exceed government regulations/limits on height). The trouble is that if I copy my actual topography (for example 8.5m higher), when I go to a section view (or elevation view), the hatched pattern of both topographies is visible, obscuring the actual building (apart from elements the section actually cuts).

I have searched high and low, but there doesnt appear to be any way to make the higher topography's cut pattern transparent...I want to retain the actual contour line of the surface, but dont want any pattern below that. No matter what material I select (even glass), some kind of solid material obscures the view.

I currently put the 2 different topographys on different worksets, and turn them on and off using visibility, but it turns on/off the entire topograpy and its a real pain.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Click on the topography object and select "Override Graphics In View"--> By element and under the Cut Patterns Category uncheck the "Visible" box. You can also do this By Category and it will affect all objects of the same Category.

Great, thanks for the advice in the right direction. I found your instructions didnt quite work, (I am using Revit Architecture) until I checked the 'transparent' box in the main "View-Specific Element Graphics" window. It works now, so thats the main thing. Cheers.

Go to Settings - Site Setting you will find the cut pattern ie earth is set here. Just change to no pattern or something else.

The previous threads ie. overide visibility etc did nopt help me.

I know this is belated but may help someone still.
