I've linked in the MEP Revit model into my architectural model but the MEP ceiling lights don't cut into the ceiling grid.  Is there any way to do this?

This is not possible at this time. I had to create/maintain the ceiling element in the MEP model to get this to work. I realize this is not the ideal solution but it worked for the model I was creating. I really hope Autodesk addresses the issue of linked files for a future release. We are restricted to using links because our MEP work is done by other companies.

The other solution is to use a workshared file (central file) and create all objects in one model.

Thats kind of what I figured you were going to say.  Defeates the whole BIM purpose by having them not work together doesn't it?

I agree that this severly limits the idea of working in all disciplines. I am sure there will eventually be a solution though. I am just trying to work around it until then. There are so many more benifits to the program that do work correctly, and I am certain that when the program is more developed I will be glad I stuck with it.

Revit has always had a plain ceiling which basically has no properties, it is just a plane to host ceiling elements.  Use the ceiling tool and place it at the same elevation as the architecural one and place your fixtures according to the architectural grid.

Ceiling grid rotates when mirrored, lights fixtures don't.
