I am trying to customize a stair for a project and would like to use a different nosing.  I have found the nosing profiles listed as selections under stair properties but can not figure out how to go about creating my own profiles or modifying existing profiles.

I have not done this yet but it appears to be farily easy - probably a couple of ways.  Select new family, profile, under settings - family category and parameters, set it to stair nosing. draw your profile - save this family and the click load into project.  ( I'm not sure what the alignment point is for this so you would have to play with that.  Another method would be to start with your existing profile, edit that appropriately, save under a new name and load.)

In your project, click on stair, open the properties, click on edit/new -find the nosing profile and use it's pull-down to select your new nosing.

Let us know what you learn in the process.

Thanks, I did not know about the stair profile family template.

The other side of the question is where the profiles are stored.  I did a search of the entire C drive and did not find the file as named in the stair properties.  Somehow the stair application knows where to find the profiles.

I will be working through all this today and will post the results.

Thanks,

The profile is just another family.  It had to be already loaded in your project template if you see it in your family listings.
