Alright

I have searched the forums and have gotten closer to my goal, but still no dice.  My current status is as follows:

I opened a default profile.rfa and used a PDF detail to draw my lines that represent the section of the coping.  I added it as a sweep, but the error message "Invalid Compound Structure" continues to pop up!  So I took another route.  I opened an already existing parapet cap-precast family which works just fine as a coping on my walls.  I paste in my lines, but I cannot edit parameters so I change all dims to <none>.  I then erased the lines of the pre cast and save it as Tapered Coping.rfa.  When I add it as a sweep again the error message repeats it self.

 Check out the file.

Your problem is that to perform a sweep with a profile, the profile has to be a closed shape.  What you need to do is make both a Profile of the coping and an other file that is a detail component.  In the profile all you want is the exterior lines of the coping and then you can either close it by connecting the bottom point on the exterior side with the bottom point on the interior side.  If you don't want it to appear as a solid in section, use offset/copy to offset all of the exterior lines of your coping by 1/8 or 1/16" and then close them.  Next, you can take all of the rest of your line work and make a detail component showing the inner-workings of the coping and then place the detail component within your profile.  An advantage to this is that you can also indicate the detail level at which to show the detail component.  I have attached a revised version of your coping and also a detail component of your coping.  This has been inserted into your profile as explained above.
