I'm working on a new building that has a wing rotated at 30 degrees.  All of the interior and exterior walls are all dimensioned and are working great.  Now I'm working on detailing the interior elevations and when I dimension from wall to casework I keep getting this error (The planes of one or more references are not exactly orthogonal to this view.  The dimension to these reference cannot be created.)  I've got around it a few times by using the align tool on the casework or by making a new elevation tag, but there is a number of locations where it still isn't letting me dimension.  What is causing this and how to I fix it?

First, when you created your elevations, did you let REVIT place the elevation perpendicular to the wall?  It should do so automatically when you get close to the angled wall.  If not, you can rotate your elevation line to assure it's parallel.

Second, when you placed your casegoods, did they align themselves or did you manually rotate them?   Wall / face hosted elements should align themselves correctly.  When you manually rotate, you can't just eyeball them if you want dimensioning to work.

Yes that was the first two things I tried and it isn't solving the problem.  It acts like the room is not square but it is because the room itself has dimensions that would be out of alignment as well.
