Hi, our office is slowly beginning to adopt Revit Architecture 2008. I have been trying to explore different aspects of Revit workflow, using a current project being done in Autocad as a basis - trying to prevent too many bloody moments that we've all heard about with The First Revit Project.

My question is this: using the autocad drawings as an underlay makes for quick and easy placement of walls and other elements, but is there a way of extracting/transferring block attribute text information from the room tags that are already in the DWG file, so that one does not have to transcribe the room number and name? This particular project has about 400 rooms. I have tried to "query" the block attribute in the dwg - nothing useful there. I've tried to import and then explode the file - revit refuses to do it, due to its size (can't say that I blame it).

Does anybody have any experience or knowledge with something like this?

Thanks!

Brian

Sorry - there is no attribute data transfer from AutoCAD to REVIT.  REVIT only reads this data as lines and text.

well, upon further study, I've found that if you import the acad tags and I think explode them - you can then copy and paste the information from the autocad tags to the revit tags fairly quickly (at least for a slow typer like me)
