i am trying to figure out how to put a pocket in a basic concrete wall. i've been able to create openings that go through a wall, but i need a pocket that is only 4" (or some dimension that won't penetrate the full width of my wall) deep. any ideas on how this can be achieved? Thanks.

There was another thread on the same topic recently. On the Modeling tolls, go to create, you can pick a family type (I use structural foundation) then make a void volume by extrusion. You can draw in plan and set the extrusion depth to the pocket depth. After you draw the void, you will need to pick the Cut Geometry tool and pick the void then the wall. Once you have drawn the void and cut it from the wall, you can then select the void and copy or array it and it will automatically cut from the wall.

thanks! that did the trick as far as cutting the pocket. but is there a way to do this not as an in-place family? my building is a tilt-up panel building with 50+ panels and copy/array returns an error when the void moves off the host panel. hopefully there is a way to perform this task without having to create a pocket on each panel, but to copy one pocket thoughout all panels.
