Hi I am wondering how can I work on a revit file at home easily. I have tryed saving a local file on a laptop and than just working at home on the laptop. But when I open it at home it can not find the central file and does not allow me to work on it unless I detach the laptop local file from the sentral file. This means I cant save back to central when I get back to work. Can someone help me to find a way to work at home. BTW there are multiply users on this job! Nic

Have you looked at the help file in Revit? There already have the answer and the process about the question you asking. They called it "Editable at risk".

Aside from a very curt help topic as you pointed out, what would you do if you are out of town and you have been emailed the file to work on. Other than going through the labor of coordinating over the phone with people for an hour or so to get it to where the help menu says, is there an easier and faster way to get to work? The reason I ask is because the editable at risk does not work in this case. None of the elements are owned by anybody and even when I have them all checked out Revit tells me no. I see what revit is trying to do here, but its making it difficult to improvise on the fly.

Editable At Risk does work in this case, you just need to check-out all the workset using your user name or giving you the user name used to check-out the worksets. As I mean all workset which include system worksets, those are not displayed by default, you need to manually select them to show on the list.

System worksets are individaul established view, project settings, and individaul loaded family components and ....

No it doesn't register at all. All worksets were made editable and revit still disallowed any modifcations in the file. I ended up getting the central file sent to me in order to get to work. Maybe when I get back I will investigate a little more and see what I will have to do to work on the local file offline because it seems like the help menu is missing a few little caveats to the process. Thanks for your reply!

I am sad to say that I tak home work regularly but never had any issues.

I bring on  my laptop, the local file and make sure no items are 'owned' or 'borrowed' by other people.

At home I make editable all workset and everything else.

(I could do this in the office, to make sure nobody else work on he project)

Work normally.

Back in the office, I open and synchronise

I never read the help screen, but I do not know what else it would say

The best way to complete any assignment at the university is to turn to us essay and get highly professional help from real gurus in their field. I myself have been using the service for about a year and am just happy with the results. Teachers and professors praise me for my good academic performance and give me high marks. My fellow students often ask me how I manage to do everything. What's the secret? And everything is very simple. I use the best essay writing service!
