I have a problem with my beams. i dont know how to make them be cutted in the appropiate angle that i need.

Im attaching 2 images so you can visualize my concern

In the picture u can see that the element that is in the center is a girder sitting over a concrete pilaster or column.

what i need to be able to do is: make the beam touch the girder completely and be cutted in the 35 degree angle

I have the same issue in others structural elements in this building cause its angle.

The 2nd Image shows a 2 pices of a sillplate that i need them to be touching together with the appropiate angle cut.

Perphaps im not using the rigth tool or i dont know the appropiate command, can somebody help me please....

Thank U!

If you use Revit Architecture, you cannot do much about it, unless you edit the family component with a adjustable angle, and it can be very difficult.

However, if you have Revit Structure with you that will be much easier. In Revit Structure, you need to adjust the end of those beam a bit longer than attach them to the grider you mention. Then those beam will cut back themselve.

Other method is adjust those beams a bit longer, draw a refrence plane  along each face of the grider, then use cut geomatry tool select a beam and a reference plane.

Hello juliodanielsaavedra,

To cut the beam is actually pretty simple. What you need to do is go into the framing plan and draw the beams how you had them in your second picture. Then what you will want to do is go to the modeling design bar and choose the opening tool. From the flyout choose opening by face. Move your cursor over the beam in a plan and you sould see a green box appear around the beam. Let click and this will bring yo uinto sketch mode. From there all you need to do is draw around the area that you want to cut away. This does work in RAC as well as RST.

I attached a pic of what the sketch is like.

HTH,

The opening tool can work, but need to do it one by one to each beam.

don't mention it, I am using Revit for more than 5 yrs, but I am still learning everyday.

By the way, Autodeck did make the beam joining easier, but they do it in Revit Structure, and sell it seperately. I guess that is how they make money.

Hello everybody, someone could still read this ... What I found to work for me is:

Create reference planes where you need to cut the beams and use Modify/Geometry/Cut Tool.

Select the beam you want to be cut and then select the reference plane. However you can't delete the reference planes because the cut will disapear.

You may have to extend the beams a little in order to cross them with the reference planes.

Good luck!
