Revit 2008

Is there a way to prgram an object to repeat within a family?

I want to set up a BENCH family, with metal bracket @ 600 oc.  Can I program the bracket to repeat/offset itself when the bench length is changed in a family type?

Help would be much appreciated.  Or I'll just have to do bench with no bracket...

You can use the Array tool and create a parameter that will control the number. I haven't had a lot of experience with arrays but I have used them a little. I would suggest that you do a search in the forums for "Array Parameter" or something like that. There is probably a few posts regarding this issue. You can also look up Array in the Revit Help and it will give you some info.

you can accomplish that with a 3D 2-pick family, the bracket will be a nested family in the bench family, the template for the bench family should be a "generic model line based" how to understand the formula for the array is kinda explained in the tutorials in the nested families tutorial, the one where you do a web truss. I know this is kinda wage let me know if you need added help and I could send you more detailed steps

hey thanks!

I figured out the array function and got myself a L-shape and U-shape bench with automatic brackets.  Very exciting for me... haha..  I assume 2-pick family can't deal with corner condition? CryingPlease let me know otherwise) I will try it out for the straight bench.  Thanks again to all.

In case this is any use to anyone.  here's my U shape bench.
