Hi, i am getting close to wrapping up our first project in revit. the process has been slow, but very enjoyable learning how to do different things. i have screeched to a grinding hault though. the house i am draing is in a certain development that requires us to show how much each finish on elevations is. for example, on the front elevation if we spec board & batten siding, we have to show the percentage of the b&b siding to the total wall area. make sense? so i f the wall area is 600sf,a nd the board & batten takes up 150sf of the total 600, then the b&b is covering 25% of the total area.

in autocad we simply picked points using the area tool, and got the areas of each finish. i am wondering if there is any way to get this done in revit.

thanks for any suggestions, and sorry for any confusion.

Shnail,

One thing that you can do is TRACE the areas in the ELEVATION view and then COPY them to the CLIPBOARD and PASTE them into a AREA PLAN VIEW. You can then use GROSS BUILDING AREA to place lines around and calculate. Not fast but it works.

You can do this with schedules assuming that the walls are built properly. You would probably need to add a parameter to walls along so that you can filter the schedule(s) by facade.

It takes a somewhat sofisticated schedule (something that I am still working on), but should be doable with the tutorials and a little help. Post again if you cant figure it out.

What i do to calculate areas in Elevation view, is to make a "Filled region" (under Drafting tab), and then the Properties of that region will show you the area.
