Can you post a sketch of what you are trying to do?  I don't understand the question.

I think I know what you are trying to do, because it is very simple in Sketch-Up and people point to how easy it is in Sketch-Up when they complain about not being able to do it in Revit. Revit does not have this ability as far as I can tell. You can use a blend and rotate the base/top, then stack a series of these on top of each other to get a spiral, but it's not a true rotation and it is very time consuming.

Looks a lot like the blend that I was suggesting. It's not a true "twist" because the geometry changes as you go up...unlike the wet towel you mentioned. If you need more than one rotation on that thing, you would need to stack as I suggested. The time consuming part I mentioned comes in when you try and use this to create a closer-to-true- twist or go around more than once. If you haven't seen what I'm talking about in Sketch-Up, I think you'd be surprised...though like many things in Sketch-Up, it's not very functional beyond the initiatial formation. Your creation looks very interesting, and glad that you found something that works for you.
