Every now and then, without me changing any settings (to my knowledge at least), revit will stack the tool bars one on top of the other instead of side by side. For example, if I click on the browser, only the options toolbar is there (under the menus and general tools), greyed out of course because I have nothing selected. When I select something such as a wall however, all the tools specific to that object are stacked in new toolbars under the options, instead of next to it. They are locked so I can't move them, and I can't find in any options or settings how to change that. It is really frustrating and annoying to work in every time I click on something my screen shifts to make room for different stacked toolbars. Anyone know what could be going on? Thanks.

Do have Revit on dual monitors by chance?

That is the only time I have seen that happen.

I have only seen this happen when Revit is stretched accross two monitors. Autodesk is aware of this issue but at this point really isn't anything that can be done other than to use Revit on one monitor only. I use my other monitor for ACA or email and stuff like that and use my bigger flat scrren for Revit.

I use two monitors and have not encoutered this problem.  One possible difference with my setup is that when I launch revit it only comes up on one monitor and then I stretch it across the two rather than being maximized to the two screens.  When my computer goes to sleep, Revit returns to one and I have to re-stretch it when I wake it up.  Maybe give that a try.

This is happening to me now as well. I've been using dual monitors for quite sometime with NO PROBLEMS. Today I upgraded my second monitor to a 24" Widescreen and now it's stacking toolbars exactly like described .. "all the tools specific to that object are stacked in new toolbars under the options, instead of next to it. They are locked so I can't move them". Some more info ... when you select an object it will stack toolbars 6 deep unless you have the toolbars set 6 deep already, then it will just place the add'l tools next in line on the 6th toolbar. This dilemma really makes the widescreen monitor inconvenient to use as i need to dock the toolbars 6 deep or have the image on the monitor bounce up and down on every selection which is very inconvenient. It only happens on the second monitor, not on the primary. I've turned opengl off as that fixed other issues. It happens at all resolutions. However it doesn't happen on my 16:9 20" monitor. Are there any fixes for this?
