Hi all: I created shared parameters and all is well. I get a blue ? question mark when I load the title block into my project. The problem is that I don't want a blue question mark. I want it to say something like "Input" or something to indicate that it needs to be filled out. When i place the label it has a section where it says 'Sample Text", but that sample text does not show up once the title block is loaded into a project, just the blue question mark shows up. Any ideas? -R

You need to make sure and load the shared parameter you created into your project and assign it to the catagory of 'project information'. You should also do this to your template file so that when you start a new project from the template the shared parameter is already there.

this doesn't solve the problem.... we have the same problem...we want to make a label that already has a valeu..like the drawn by, apporved by.. Who is the genius who can explane this...

Here's your answer: 1. Edit the tag. 2. Click on the label (the one that shows up as a visible blue question mark even when you do not have it selected in the project. 3. Click on the properties button. Not the Edit Label button. 4. Uncheck Visible. 5. Reload into the project. That's it.

Correction to the above Reply: Ignore the above thread. The fix is to "include" the shared parameter with an existing system perimeter, i.e., Type Name or some other system parameter as 1 label. It works this way. If you create a separate label for a shared parameter, the blue question mark will appear in the tag until you input a value. By putting the shared parameter in the same label as a system/family parameter, the blue question mark will not appear if you do not have a value for that shared parameter. But if you have a value in the shared parameter, it will appear in the tag. Hope this helps.

" i ve value for my parameter but it still have blue ? question mark, im doing something wrong but where..?

Check and see if the label is reading the correct parameter. 10 out 10, I bet the label is reading a different parameter. If you attach the family, hopefully, one of us can help you out.

" i couldnt understand what you mean by parameter , i give that name to parameter anyway i write something else there , i and i noticed that my blue ? is not instance if i write to it inproject and copy all other copies have same text on it if i change they change too ,i dont want this , i want my texts all independent. here is what i do for it. 1-i create my title block from a dwg file ,i import and scale it . 2-i chage some texts with labels(like date scale, i add them from default title blocks) 3-then i put some standart text which i want to write different things in every sheet.(my problem is here they dont work) so i used labels instead of texts ,i created label then add parameter from left below then select parameter type, new group let say AA then new paramater (by the way i create a sample parameter txt then choose it in project)let say aa then ok ok select that parameter its sample value is aa then say ok now i see my label in title block writing aa , i place it and load into project . when i look at it at project i see blue ? and change it to my request but if i copy that title block in same sheet that label comes with same value if change it all title blocks changes.

When you add the project parameter to your project under Setting >> Project Parameter, add that label you want, check "instance", and on the right hand side under categories, check "Drawing Sheets." In this way, you can type in the label on the sheet and it will only affect that sheet. It does not affect other sheets of the same label.

OK. You are able to add the parameter to your titleblock so that when you click on the question mark to type in a type, you can do that right? The question is blue enabling you to type in the text. But what changes for all of your sheets for that type of titleblock, right? That project paramter must be on "Project Information" categories, right? OK. Remove the project parameter, and add it back in. This time, choose "drawing sheets." Now, the parameter is sheet specific rather than titleblock specific. still nothing changed.i tried a lot of thing but i am sure somthing wrong.but i have to finish that drawing. i am adding text manually for every sheet now.

Bimmer32,I tried your tip on including a system parameter with a shared parameter to get rid of the blue question mark but if neither of these parameters have any content the blue question mark still displays.I'm trying to create a room tag that, apart from room name and number, will display some shared parameters that are not yet ready to be typed in. And until they are I would like the room tag to display those shared parameters as empty labels and not question marks. Is that possible? Thanks.
