We were also having trouble with linked Architectural files becoming "Not Found".

The problem was user error. Background: We save a unedited version of the Architectural model in folder called "Received", then clean it up by deleting filters and unneeded veiws before overwriting the file we use as a Link in the "Links" folder.

After updating the latest version Architectural Model, I saved the file and overwrote the Linked file, but DID NOT hit "Make this File a Central File". Therefore the file was a actually Local version of the Central file, which remained in our "Received" folder.

The result was that our Saved Path would not update no matter how many times we hit "Reload From" because it was Linking a Local version of the file. The Saved Path remained pointed to the "Received" folder, not the "Links" folder. (The Alias was the Local file path, which was extra confusing.)

I went back to the Central file in the "Recieved" folder and overwrote the Linked file, correctly hitting "Make this file a Central File after Save".

It is hard to search for fixes to issues when it's a user error!

You can link to a central or a local file so that was not your probleme, just where the file was.

There is no need to "clean up" the architectural file as you do, just a waste of time.  Only the model elements are loaded into your model (except if you use a linked view then that view is loaded as well).

You process should be just to save the file you recieve in a location where you can find it.  We always save that received file with the same original name with a date so we always know what file is linked.  Since we do change the date in the name, we still have to use the reload from in the manage links.
