I'm not sure if you mentioned this already, but you also have an option in the properties bar to change the color scheme location to either foreground or background.

Yes - the color scheme is supposed to be in the background, but I believe it's not reading properly as a result of the upgrade from 2010 to 2011.

Another thing that I encountered today with this issue was offset limit of the room area itself was taller than the floor to floor and the visibility was overlapping a bit. I set mine to be the limit of ceiling and it behaved correctly in the instance I was working in. Not sure if this is applicable to you or if you've already done that as well.

That was a really good thought that I hadn't tried, but unfortunately did not prove to be my problem.  If I set the room height lower than my cut plane the color doesn't show up at all, and if it's higher than the cut plane, my doors disappear.

Two things: Does the visibility of the doors change at all levels of zoom? Mine tends to have a display glitch like this where my doors temporarily disappear depending on how far or near I'm zoomed in. Have you tried to print a test of the view to pdf to see if it persists? I would still investigate some of the geometry itself and make sure theres nothing weird in the families (though you said they were out of the box doors) or if there are any offsets or gaps between floor walls etc. I guess I would also try manually drawing the room boundaries to see if there is still an issue. Very strange.

That's exactly what is happening to me - it appears to be a display glitch, but the most annoying part is that when we print, the plans look the way they do on the screen.  I'm going to try to start a fresh file and see if that makes a difference.

Maybe try inserting a new 2011 door with the same name and types as the old one and overright the previous door(s) completely with a new OTB 2011 door.
For the most part, do a saveas of the project and then try replacing the doors with OTB 2011 doors and see if that helps.
Try playing with the scale factor, detail level and Visual Style of the view.
Check Pen Weights, Object Styles and Line Styles in the family and in the project.
Upgrading projects in REVIT from one version to the next is not always seemless.

Thanks to everyone who's replied on this - just as an update, I started a new project in 2011 and had the same problem.  So much for that theory...

I'm always curious as to (who and) what the tech support people had to say at your autodesk reseller? Did they have any clues? This site is a great forum but let's face it you paid the reseller for the software. They should have some answers.

I've noticed at certain zoom levels some lines will disappear from view or some lines will appear that shouldn't show. I think this is just a processor power thing. The computer can't regenerate the graphice to the screen fast enough so it gets "sloppy" to keep up.

However when I print the view it always comes up correct. Maybe try to print the view instead of doing a screen capture and see what you get.

Hello,

I had the same problem on two computers and here is how I solved it: go to Options > Graphics and uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration. Restart Revit.

Hope it works for you as well.

That solved the problem!  Thanks so much, bulina!  I had given up on this one.

Make sure you don't have the Thin Lines icon clicked.  I accidentally had it on and was having the same problem, when I unchecked the box, door swings and slab edges, etc. turned back on.
