i've done that for door swings in cabinet families.reiterating what chanus said align the reference plane to the end point of the diagonal line.  lock it and then do the other intersecting reference plane. the end point of the diagonal should then be at the intersection of the reference planes. does that make sense? or did you already figure it out?
