Well i use Revit Architecture so I guess I really can't comment on Revit MEP 2010. Although my consultants are using 2010 and they don't seem to be having any problems either. My money is on your issue being localized within your office. Ghosts in the machines and what not.

I'm still having problems.  Just have to save often and hope Autodesk fixes the problem soon.

Brian,

What type of machine do you have? do you have 4 gb of ram and have you set your VM to 4092?

Most likely you are either running out of memory or your graphics driver is conflicting with Revit.

I have a Pentium (R) D CPU 3.00 GHz running Windows XP Service Pack 3.  4 GB ram.  Virtual Memory set at 11000.  In this economy upgrading the system is not an option.  It's not good if revit is getting ahead of affordable hardware.  I never had this problem in 2009.

try reseting your VM to be "system managed size" and reboot. I can you that the Pentium D is not an ideal processor for Revit, in my experience the celeron based processors have never really been a good fit for a CAD workstation. With all the new technology out an upgrade to a  Core 2 Duo would be extremely cheap and beneficial to your production in the long run.

I think you may have mentioned before but what video card do you have and what driver are you using for it?

I highly doubt your video driver is the issue, but you could try going to the autodesk website and downloading driver version

6.14.0011.7824

this is a Autocad 2010 certified driver for your video card.

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/hc?siteID=123112&id=6711853&linkID=9240618

You should also check out some discount retailers for a new CPU like newegg.com or tigerdirect.com. I have used the Core 2 Duo 3.0 ghz and liked it very much for both modeling and rendering, they should be pretty cheap now.

"

if its a problem with the build how am I able to run it on many different types of computers with a variety of operating systems, users, projects, hardware, drivers, blah blah blah?

My guess is your machines are not properly maintained or are not up to par with Revits requirements.

"
Do you realize how asinine some of the things you're saying are? How does the whole "It's working in my environment, so everything's fine with the software" argument going? People here are looking for help, so get yourself together, or don't bother posting.

You obviously missed the point of what I was saying. A small percentage of people are having problems. If the program was broken don't you think we would all have problems? To the people that are having issues with crashing I imagine have a problem with their machine.

Oh my gosh, you're right! I guess it doesn't make sense that Revit 2009 had 3 service packs then does it? Because of course if it was broken, they would have never let it leave the factory.

Pff, sorry, I don't think so. Sorry RevitCity forums. Edited on: Mon, Jun 22, 2009 at 3:27:51 PM

If you have such a problem with RevitCity forums and the help people are providing for free here then why are you on here? People are here to help each other, not to listen to some douche whine about everything.

Ditto Alabaster, sometimes appear here a few bright minds, (Newbies)...Hey brain, if you are so smart why do not solve the problem at once?

Because until now i work with 2010, files with 150MB and NO PROBLEM AT ALL..... If you have so much problem with REVITCITY FORUM AND WITH THE PEOPLE WHO POST HERE, WHY ARE YOU HERE????

Well, here's a list of steps that I posted earlier today.

The following steps are in no particular order, but represent the measures and attempts to increase Revit 2010's stability.

.

1. Disable hardware acceleration within Revit options.

.

2. Update BIOS, drivers, OS service packs

a. Updated OS service packs. (microsoft.com/DOWNLOADS)

b. Latest graphics drivers from either the OEM (dell.com, hp.com), Nvidia (nvidia.com) , or ATI (ati.amd.com). Some graphics cards will return errors without drivers from the OEM.

c. Hardware BIOS updates. Available from OEM (dell.com, hp.com)

.

3. Defrag, temp file and disk cleanup

a. Use the windows defrag tool after Revit install. (support.microsoft.com/kb/314848 )

b. Clear out temp files (edbott.com/weblog/?p=1261)

c. Windows Disk cleanup

.

4. Increase pagefile size to some amount over 3GB, (windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/89ca317f-649d-40a6-8934-e5707ee5c4b81033.mspx)

.

5. 3GB switch - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124810.aspx

.

a. For people running a 32-bit operating system with more than 2GB of memory, you might find improved performance by adding the /3GB startup switch. This will allow programs like Revit to access more memory. Just use the link above, follow the directions exactly, and realize you’re taking your computer into your own hands. Some users will experience errorst that can be fixed by a registry edit. I don't have the link at the moment.

.

6. Get a memory and/or graphics upgrade

.

7. Buy a newer, high powered computer. (I recommend something with a Nvidia Quadro solution of some sort)

.

And, when did I say I had a problem with RevitCity? I said Sorry RevitCity, because I was apologizing for what I had to type in its forums. I clearly don't remember defaming RevitCity, or at least that wasn't my intention. In any case, sorry for the ruckus. Just because Revit works well for one person, or most people, doesn't mean it will work perfectly for everybody right out of the box. That's the point of the forums, that's the role they serve. If the software was perfect, there wouldn't be a need for a support forum, and RevitCity wouldn't be here. Gosh, I keep you guys on my facebook page. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

So what?? you also post this"Do you realize how asinine some of the things you're saying are? How does the whole "It's working in my environment, so everything's fine with the software" argument going? People here are looking for help, so get yourself together, or don't bother posting."

and this: "Oh my gosh, you're right! I guess it doesn't make sense that Revit 2009 had 3 service packs then does it? Because of course if it was broken, they would have never let it leave the factory.Pff, sorry, I don't think so. Sorry RevitCity forums."

To a newbie here, you are a "little arrogant"....

Ohh, you "Edit" (change) your post 3 times, wow, "And, when did I say I had a problem with RevitCity? I said Sorry RevitCity, because I was apologizing for what I had to type in its forums. I clearly don't remember defaming RevitCity, or at least that wasn't my intention.
