Achieving "Looks" with Blends in Photoshop

3.   Now add the lines from the smart blur – (remember you must delete the white background to get only lines) And this is closer, but let’s change the opacity of the layer so more of the other layers are showing. Select the blur layer, and set the opacity to 72 percent., but still – not a “pencil/pen sketch”.

4.   So we need a little texture. Turn on the Graphic pen layer. With it on top, it covers the drawing again. So what do we use? Try the different blends overlay and multiply. Now try Soft light. That is my choice on this sketch and we wind up with this image:

Now, if you want a even more sketchy feel, create a new layer on top of the stack, fill it with white, and use your eraser tool, opacity and brushes to add the look you want. Remember, as you erase, let off of the mouse and re-click to get the opacity effect to “layer” or build. Also, change your brush size, shape and opacity setting as you erase to get a variation in the look… Play with this until next tutorial and remember to post your results…. Enjoy..
