So when I select a 3d view, it is usually just a blank screen.  By panning around a little, usually you can see a very small black speck.  When you zoom into the black speck, it is the 3d view.  So what is going on here, and how do I fix it?  Once I'm zoomed in, if I select zoom to fit, the 3d view box disappears again to a small black speck.  This leads me to believe that there might be something far in the extents of the drawing, but I'm not sure.  Has anyone experienced this before?

I would say your assumtion is correct. There is probably some enity way off in space. Check visibility settings and other graphic settings to make sure the object isn't hidden.

Open your siteplan then find the 3d view in your browser, right click on it and choose "show camera".  This will show you where your camera really is.

Ok... I figured out what the problem is.  There was indeed an object that was way out of the work space.  It took me a while to go through each plan, view, and elevation by dragging around the work space, but I found it.  Thanks!
