Autodesk has this new download for connecting Revit to Google Earth.  Included is the Avatech Earth Connector that places your building model on the Google Earth 3D map.  The only problem I am having is trying to get the model shifted to the exact spot on the Google Earth photo.  Can't find any instructions on Avatech's website.

I'm sure that this is much too late to help you - but in case others stumble upon this:

There is a tutorial in the directory where the Avatech Utilities for Revit are installed. There are a couple of basic strategies for matching up the origin of the model with a location in Google Earth - most require two iterations:

You will generally want to start by making a guess at it - putting a placemark into Google Earth at the origin, and then saving that placemark as a KML file.

When running Earth Connector, you can set the location of the model origin based on an imported KML placemark.

That should get things close - but there are two approaches to make things closer:

 1. You can shift the model origin to a new location once you have seen it in place to make a correction.

2. Inside Earth Connector, you can choose "Place Marker" which will place a family at the origin. You may then move that marker family to a new location (such as the corner of the building or property line - something that will be easy to cross-reference by the location of your Google Earth reference placemark).

Good Luck,

Matt
