Coreed - when I go to the materials tab in the graphics override the materials are set to the phase (i.e. phase demolished is set to material phase-demo - see screen capture attached.)

Chris - I deleted the 3D view and recreated it with the same results.

I am thinking I might be loosing this battle!!!!  I started a new project and just drew in a quick model and it looked just fine in 3D view so there is definitley something I am missing in this file alone.

Thanks for ya'lls help so far!!

"

Chris,

has revit always let you delete your default 3d view and then create a new one by clicking on the 3d button.

if so if i have lied to loads of people telling them to "never mess around with the default 3d view too much, or else you can't get it back"

i can't belive i never tried this, well actually i thought i did try this and it didn't work. it may of been release 7

stupid of me!!!!!!!

but also funny

just wondering now what other very basic things i have missed!!!!

"

That's been the case since the first day I started using Revit.  As soon as the {3D} view is renamed or deleted and you click the 3D button at top of screen revit generates a new one if one doesn't exist of that name already.

jaj-why don;t you post your file and let us screw around with it.....(if you can get it below the 2MB limit by purging, but probably not)

The Guy in my office has the SAME problem.Hi 3d model looks exactly like JAJ's. It looks wire frame yet is in shaded with edes?2009 revit. He first converted a 2008 project...and it did that in the 3dview!!!! and it kept on crashing. He tried the same file on another computer..and it did the same thing?!so it was not the hardware. Then he rebeun the project in 2009 thinking the conversion to 2009  was the problem but the same problem is happenin. He has tried everythin... he has also tried to avoid using components but after a while the same problem happens. It has happened to one other revit user in the office....we are just waitin for it to ahppen to everyone

jaj i would be interested to know if you are comin across the same prob in your new project? Could it be the method in which they are building?

I never had this issue in any previous release, but after working in a 3d view with shading on it starts to happen.

I thought it may be my graphics drivers for my Quadro card because I like to tweak them, but sometimes it happens to my laptop that has (2) 512MB geforce cards. I changed the openGL and I tried this and I tried that. nothing works.

So when it does happen I just reboot. Seems to solve the issue.

I just wanted to add that I just experienced this problem.

Project was upgraded to 2009 from 2008.  Very strange display problem in a single 3-d view.  View was deleted and new one made.  problem solved, but cause unknown. Project had been fine so far for over 3 weeks.

This seems to happen to people in my office when working in the same 3d view for an extended period of time. It does not make much sense to me, but as I said it does only seem to happen after being in 3D for a long time.

Alright so i've been working in 3d views for a long time today and have had this happen several times this afternoon for the first time.  An easy solution has been to save to central>closerevit>remake local file>open it up.  Views are returned to normal after this process.

Has anyone had this issue when using an ATI graphics card?

All of the PC's in our office use Nvidia.

Well, I have had that problem several times. Why? _I don´t know, seems to happen when the file gets very big.

My solution, go to the view menu, orient the view (to the same orientation, of course) and the 3D gets redraw. It works for me!

Hope you understand my English....

Regards.
