I am a new user of revit mep.  Many of my designs include frosted glass doors, Unfortunatly, when I render these doors, tha lack of light makes them appear black rather than frosty white, Is there any materials of ways to trick revit into giving me a white surface that is only 50-60 % opaque.

If MEP is anything like Building/Architecture, then there should be a transparency parameter in the upper right, of the materials dialog.  You can set transparency to 40 or just play around with it.  There are already some frosted glass materials that ship with Revit Architecture.  You may be able to download them from the web library available at Autodesk's website.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

the transparency parameter  does appear to change the properties of the glass in the model, but when it renders, there is no apparent difference (I tried 2% transparency and 90%, no difference)

It stays black?  Are you Raytracing or using Radiate?
