Hi there. Hopefully someone can help - i've done alot of searching on the internet and help menu, but no luck so far.

As the attached file shows, I'm trying to put a hatch on my roof, but can't seem to get it to be visible. I've been trying to put on the steel pattern, under 'coarse scale fill pattern'. I'm only working in hidden line mode, because my computer is too slow to cope with 'shading with edges'. I just want the outline and hatching, that i will colour in photoshop for presentation drawings.  

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 you should be able to simply change the roofing material pattern to the one you wish through the edit material directly or change the settings of the material under the 'settings' menu. So if the roof is say a generic 125mm and the material is 'default roof', then change the 'default roof' material to the pattern you wish. It should then appear on all representations of the model (except rendered)...HTH
