I am dealing with a pretty complex NURBS surface imported in Revit as a generic model. I created a curtain system and mullions from the surface. so far it's fine, but Revit doesn't let me change panel types to something else. Only system panel types like glazed, solid, or empty are the options I can change to. I investigated my geometry and individual panels. Panels look warpped that seemed to cause the problem. Do non planar curtain panels never work with type selector only exept glazed, solid, or empty?

Silly question, but did you make sure the panels you are trying to change are unpinned?  When you select the panel, does a safety pin looking icon appear?  If it does, click it and will become unpinned and you can then change the panel to whatever you want.

The other problem may be that all the panels that ship with Revit are planar and that would mean that they technically will not work with non planar panel spaces.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
