I'm new to Revit. I've seen the Anderson windows and they seem impressive - perhaps even too much detail. I'm wondering if anybody has created a line of Pella windows, or Marvin, or others. Preferably Pella since we spec those more than anything.
Also, if Pella windows don't exist would anyone have suggestions on how to create them? For instance would you start with the andseron family and tweak it. Or, start from a Revit family or start from scratch?
Again, just getting started with Revit. So be kind.
Thanks!

Well I've been playing with the Andersen windows found on this site that have all the sizes included in a text file. I thought I would share my findings even if this is obvious to more experienced users. And I'm still not sure what is the best way to use windows with Revit.....looking for some feedback on how others tackle windows (I think the most complicated part of Revit so far).
Here's what I did.
I opened the Anderson text file in Excel and edited the columns to reflect Pella sizes. Then I copied the Anderson famliy file renamed it to Pella (save the text file to .csv and renamed to be the same). Unbelievable, but it actually worked.
Now with a little data entry I can create the entire line of pella window sizes in a single file. Of course the geometry is a little different but to be honest the rough opening and window model is all that matters.
However, has anyone else noticed that loading these files is incredibly slow? Expecially swapping one window for another. The status bar at the bottom freaks out and switches quickly between "Regenerating" and "Updating References" for at least 5 seconds. I hope I'm doing something wrong because autocad took no time at all to switch from one window style to another. Related to that saving the project file takes 10 seconds (tutorial file) when autocad took less than 1. I got so used to saving after almost every command in autocad and now 30 minutes goes by and I haven't saved because it's such an interruption to the flow.
Finally, is this really the way to create different window sizes anyway? I think I would prefer to have one family for each brand and then be able to specify the size I want "on the fly" without having to duplicate or rename the family every time.

I just wanted to reply saying that I too have been using the Andersen Series from the revit library. I have found that it takes a little bit of time for the computer to add all the new information with each window. I would love to find other windows like a Pella family. I guess that you are just going to have to create a new family on your own and keep uploading them on to revit city for others to use. Good Luck!
