My name is Borja  ; I bought two books about Revit:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mastering-Autodesk-Revit-Building-Aubin/dp/1418020532/sr=1-1/qid=1164279741/ref=sr_1_1/203-3372121-1225543?ie=UTF8&s=books

which are quite good, but I still have a question that I cannot solve. The question is about how to make a floor with a variable section, like the one in F.Lloyd Wright jhonsons Wax building. (Attached file).

Everyone says that it should be done as a detailing component, but I would like to know if it is possible to do it in other way. Could someone help me, or tell me where could I find some information about it?

Thank you very much.

Model it as a generic model first in an external family, do one for each typical floor.  You'll easily be able to model it using a few blends or extrusions.

Load into the project.

Create an in-place floor family and insert the loaded family here.  This effectively tells revit to have the generic model behave as a floor (ie: you'll be able to attach walls to it...).

The external family component is done externally as opposed to completely in-place if there are repetitive floor plates.  This way you could have one family for each floor plate, meaning you can change one and have them all adjust when you reload the family.

HTH.
